At Imla Empower, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Founded by Marieta Groenewald, our mission is to provide education, empowerment, and support to underprivileged children and families in the Clocolan community.
What started as a small initiative has grown into a beacon of hope, offering access to quality education, mentorship, and skills development for children who would otherwise be left behind. Through our programs, we nurture young minds, restore dignity, and create opportunities that break the cycle of poverty.
We provide food, education, skills training, talent development, and sports programs to empower children and uplift our community.
Through our sports and talent development programs, we offer rope jumping and soccer training, and host an annual talent competition to inspire confidence, teamwork, and creativity in our children.
Our feeding scheme provides daily meals to children—often their only meal of the day—thanks to the generous support of farmers and business owners who donate food, helping us nourish young minds and bodies.
We provide basic education, including reading and writing, to children who cannot attend government schools due to lack of id documents, ensuring they still have the opportunity to learn and build a brighter future.
Watch this powerful story of struggle, resilience, and transformation, and see how, together, we can brighten futures, one child at a time.
Life isn’t easy for many of the children in our community.
Without access to formal education, daily meals, or the opportunities most take for granted, their future is uncertain. But amidst the challenges, there is hope—hope found in a warm meal, a caring teacher, a chance to learn, play, and dream.
With the right support, these children can rise above their circumstances and build a future filled with possibility and promise.
At Imla Empower, your support can change lives.
Become a Volunteer: Share your skills in teaching, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, or vocational training. Whether it’s helping a child learn to read or teaching a hands-on craft, your time helps build confidence, creativity, and opportunity.
Donate Food & Supplies: Our feeding program relies on the generosity of farmers, business owners, and individuals to ensure children receive daily meals. Your support can help provide nourishment for those who need it most.

IMLA Empower is a family-run non-profit built on the same values that have guided the Groenewalds for generations—hard work, resilience, and a heart for people.
The story began in 1895, when Flip and Sannie Groenewald settled on this land, rebuilding from nothing after the Anglo-Boer War.
Each generation since has played a part in growing the farm, not just in size but in purpose.
Today, Jan and Marieta Groenewald, along with their six children - Theoline, Carnien, Janet, Magriet, Johan, and Jessica, continue this legacy, now surrounded by their 19 grandchildren who are already part of the next chapter.
For over 130 years, the Groenewalds have been dedicated to uplifting their community, supporting farmworkers and their families with education, training, and opportunities. IMLA Empower was created to formalize and grow this impact, ensuring that more people can build a better future for themselves and their families.
To us, farming isn’t just about crops or livestock—it’s about people. When we invest in skills, knowledge, and opportunities, we all grow together.
